Sport Fishing Hawaii
Ono (Wahoo)

Ono fishing season peaks from June to August and although caught more regularly during these times of the year a good fisherman knows where and how to hook um. This skinny torpedo looking fish does not put up much of a fight as it does get exhausted really quick but the sheer excitement when one of these launches itself into mid air keeps our customers coming back for more.

It is really easy to bypass these fish while heading out to the deep seas for the bigger game, if you feel that you would like to target this fish on your charter with us please mention it to our captain and we will be sure to pass through the more well known hang outs that these fish congregate at.

The Ono are classified as solitary and usually cruise around in small groups of three or four, but when the winds are down and cooler temperatures occur near some of the deeper ledges, these fish can be found in schools of close to a hundred. They are most highly sought after for its delicious tasting meat, in fact the word Ono means "good tasting" and is commonly used through out the islands whenever someone feels the need to say that their food tastes great.
